World Kabaddi Cup from Dec 1

Tribune News ServiceChandigarh, November 13Nine teams will compete in the 2019 World Kabaddi Cup, to be orgainsed by the Punjab Government from December 1-10, Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi said here today. The tournament will be dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, Sodhi added. The inaugural ceremony would be held at Guru Nanak Stadium in Sultanpur Lodhi, while the closing ceremony would be held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sports Stadium in Dera Baba Nanak. Sodhi further said Guru Nanak Stadium in Amritsar, Ferozepur’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium, Sports Stadium in Bathinda and Patiala’s YPS Sports Stadium will host two matches each. The semifinals will be held at Charanganga Sports Stadium at Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Teams from India, USA, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Kenya, New Zealand, Pakistan and Canada will compete in the tournament, the minister reveled. Barring, Pakistan and Canada, all teams have got no-objection certificate from the Centre.
