Workshop dwells on artificial intelligence

Experts from industry and academia presented talks on the AI during the workshop. Among speakers were Kapil Khanna, an IT expert, Abhishek Sharma, a US-returned software engineer, who runs an AI-based startup in the city. The event was organised by SPIC in sync with the mandate of Niti Aayog to establish the national programme on the AI with a view to guide research and development in new and emerging technologies. The Chandigarh Administration has set up the Centre for Humane Artificial Intelligence (ChAI) with a view to foster discussion on opportunities and challenges inherent in emerging technologies like the AI.

The event was organised by SPIC in sync with the mandate of Niti Aayog to establish the national programme on the AI with a view to guide research and development in new and emerging technologies. The Chandigarh Administration has set up the Centre for Humane Artificial Intelligence (ChAI) with a view to foster discussion on opportunities and challenges inherent in emerging technologies like the AI. Giving an insight into the motivation for setting up the centre at the workshop, Dr Saurabh Mishra, director, information technology, said, “We are setting up this platform to guide research and development in new and emerging technologies in pursuence of the NITI Aayog’s strategy paper, which proposes AI for all as unique brand for India’s leadership.” “We plan to create a platform where practitioners from industry, academia and government can come together and discuss opportunities and challenges inherent in the AI,” he added.
