Local cagers shine in national meet

Chandigarh, December 3The local boys' U-19 basketball team won the silver medal in the recently concluded SGFI National U-19 Championship, at Puducherry. The city boys faced an 81-90 defeat against Haryana and failed to cross the final hurdle. Sachin (22 points) remained the top scorer for the city team, while Sahaij Pratap Singh Sekhon also contributed 18 points in the cause. Sekhon of Chandigarh was also adjudged as best player of the tournament. Squad: Sahaij Partap Singh Sekhon, Jaskaran Singh, Tejbir, Sachin, Ankush, Jashan Singh, Madhwan, Sachin, Monu Pal, Navjot Singh, Ajit Singh, Karun Kumar Jhajhria, Dinesh Dahiya (coach) and Paramjeet Singh (manager).—TNS
