Covid-19 update: Chandigarh reported 91 new cases on Wednesday

About 42 percent of the union territory’s cases are still active.

Chandigarh reported 91 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall tally in the UT to 2,396. UT also witnessed one more fatality on Wednesday taking the Chandigarh’s total death toll to 31.

A 74-year-old man from Sector 24 died at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, becoming Chandigarh’s 31st fatality to the virus. A medical bulletin issued by the Chandigarh administration said that he died of refractory septic shock caused as a result of acute respiratory distress syndrome---a disease that is frequently seen in severe cases of COVID-19.

About 42 percent of the union territory’s cases are still active.

Meanwhile, the bulletin also showed that 108 people were released from various hospitals and home isolation after making full recovery on Wednesday.
