Eight day orientation programme at Punjab Engineering College

Tribune News ServiceChandigarh December 2An eight-day orientation programme for first-year students of Punjab Engineering College (PEC) commenced through the online mode with participation of more than 800 individuals today. The event commenced with the address of the PEC Director Prof Dheeraj Sanghi. Students were apprised of Voyagers Programme (Bharat Darshan) on the occasion. Online classes have been organised by each department in the form of credits-based courses. Students will attend classes on introductory subjects of their allotted branches followed by a short test at the end of each day.

Tribune News Service Chandigarh December 2 An eight-day orientation programme for first-year students of Punjab Engineering College (PEC) commenced through the online mode with participation of more than 800 individuals today. The event commenced with the address of the PEC Director Prof Dheeraj Sanghi. He laid importance on fostering new ideas innovation and research. Sanghi laid stress on fostering new ideas innovation and research which he said would lay the foundation for the emergence of future leaders and creators envisioned to build a community of responsible global citizens. This was followed by a welcome address by Dean (Student Affairs) Dr Sanjeev Kumar Department of Applied Sciences who guided students through the campus layout while providing glimpses of the infrastructure and PECFEST the annual fest. Students were apprised of Voyagers Programme (Bharat Darshan) on the occasion. The second half of the day comprised department and faculty introductions followed by interactive sessions by respective HoDs to interact with freshly inducted juniors. Online classes have been organised by each department in the form of credits-based courses. Students will attend classes on introductory subjects of their allotted branches followed by a short test at the end of each day. The institute also organised an open-to-all online webinar as a part of the ongoing PEC Centenary Lecture Series on the topic “Post Covid economy” conducted by Dr Krishnamurthy Subramanian Chief Economic Advisor Government of India.
