Chandigarh`s first Material Recovery Facility Center (MRF) became operational on Friday.
Chandigarh`s first Material Recovery Facility Center (MRF) became operational on Friday. UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore inaugurated it. Around 150 vehicles will carry garbage here, the MRF located in the industrial area will start by the end of the month. At the same time, the target is to prepare the MRF at Dadumajra in July.
Corporation commissioner KK Yadav said that door-to-door garbage collection vehicles will carry garbage on three MRFs. These three parts are divided into six zones. In all three MRFs, 150 to 200 vehicles will carry garbage. Till now these vehicles go directly to the dumping ground or waste disposal plant and face a long queue of vehicles during this. Apart from this, along with the smell of garbage, dust also flies. After the formation of MRF, vehicles will not have to go around the whole city; this will also save fuel.
About Rs 32 crore has been spent on this project built under the Smart City project. After the formation of all three MRFs, the list of vehicles will be prepared according to the zone. The vehicles of the areas near the MRF will go there and dump the garbage. At the same time, the house-to-door garbage pickers who have not been able to be put on the vehicles, will be deployed in the MRF. Who will do the work of segregating the garbage.
