Khattar wishes PM Modi on birthday, hails his leadership

Chandigarh, Sep 17 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 71st birthday and wished that the country achieve new heights under his leadership. He said public interest decisions taken by the PM in the past seven years have instilled confidence in everyone that the country is in safe and right hands. After Modi became the prime minister, the whole world has seen the progress of the country in fields of technology, medicine, education and defence, he added. "I wish that the country should always touch new heights under your able leadership and may you live long and be happy. #HappyBday Modiji," Khattar tweeted in Hindi. "On issues on which we used to keep looking at other countries earlier, today you have given the country a new identity in the world by making those shortcomings the shield of India"s development," he said praising Modi. Under Modi"s leadership, the country has made its presence felt on the world stage, leading on many fronts, and the entire country is feeling proud of this, said Khattar. The BJP in the state embarked on a mega 20-day public outreach, "Seva and Samarpan", from Friday to mark his 71st birthday and it will continue till October 7 to commemorate his 20 years in public life, including as the Gujarat chief minister. Meanwhile, the Haryana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party organised a blood donation camp in Panchkula to mark the PM"s birthday. The camp and an exhibition on Modi"s life journey so far was inaugurated by BJP state unit chief O P Dhankar. Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, who is a BJP MLA from Panchkula, and Ambala Lok Sabha MP Rattan Lal Kataria were also present. Talking to reporters, Dhankar, Kataria and Gupta recalled the days spent by Modi in Panchkula in the mid-1990s when he was the BJP"s in-charge for the state. In Ambala Cantt, Home Minister Anil Vij took part in an event in which 7,100 saplings were planted in the constituency. PTI SUN VSD RDK RDK
