Chandigarh, Nov 27 (PTI) SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and other party members on Saturday courted arrest to register their protest against what they called a "conspiracy" by the Congress to implicate senior party leader Bikram Singh Majithia in a "false drug case". Led by Badal, senior leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) marched towards Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi"s residence and courted arrest. Earlier, talking to reporters, Badal accused Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu of resorting to "extra constitutional" measures by directing the state government to register a false case against Akali leader Bikram Majithia. "The chief minister and the home minister have not only agreed to this demand to divert attention from failures of the Congress government but have also directed the DGP to register the false case," he said terming it a "conspiracy" on the part of the Congress. "The SAD is very clear in this matter. All such persons will be prosecuted once the SAD-BSP alliance government is formed in the state. We will also establish a commission to probe these false cases, including those registered against Akali workers," said Badal. Badal also said SAD could not be "intimidated by such tactics". "We will continue to raise our voice in the favour of people and demand that promises made to them by the Congress are fulfilled," he said. He said SAD will simultaneously continue to fight repression and acts of vendetta against senior party men and workers. On Friday, Badal had alleged that they had information that the chief minister had ordered the state DGP to register a false case against Majithia and this had been done after the CM held a meeting with Sidhu and Home Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa. Meanwhile, Sidhu denied the Badal"s charge and said he would leave politics if he could prove that he held a meeting with the state police chief. "I give my word of honor that I"ll leave Politics if @officeofssbadal can prove that I ever had any close door meeting with new DGP Punjab, who illegally detained innocent Sikh boys in 2015, gave clean chits to Badals & is blue eyed boy of Ex DGP Saini, since new govt was formed," Sidhu said in a tweet. "@officeofssbadal It is the ED who is raiding you and investigating your shared accounts with Surinder Pehalwan and you are dancing on the tunes of Central Govt. as you have always been their puppet," alleged Sidhu. “Can you deny that Gurdeep Jujhar is your Man Friday, who has been raided by ED in connection with the tainted money received from Surinder Pehalwan, who is an accused in multi-crore graft case and also son-in-law of your extended family," asked Sidhu as he was referring to a raid conducted by the Enforcement Directorate on the premises of businessman Gurdeep Singh Jujhar.
