  • | Monday | 12th February, 2024

To ensure a seamless travel experience on Chandigarh-Manali National Highway, Himachal Pradesh has introduced Traffic-cum-Tourist Police Stations (TTPS). Currently, three TTPS have been established in Baghed (Bilaspur), Nerchowk (Mandi), and Bhunter (Kullu).   These stations aim to provide assistance to tourists, manage traffic congestion, investigate accidents, and intervene promptly in emergencies. With the Atal Tunnel, Rohtang, witnessing a surge in visitors, these specialized stations are essential for maintaining order and safety.   In the past year, Himachal welcomed nearly 10 million domestic tourists and over 28,000 foreign tourists. The introduction of TTPS is a proactive step to cater to the growing influx and enhance tourist safety and convenience.   The TTPS staff will be strategically deployed at tourist hotspots, bus terminals, religious sites, and shopping areas to ensure a hassle-free experience. Additionally, mobile patrolling will be conducted to address road rage incidents and maintain order.   The responsibilities of TTPS personnel extend beyond traffic management. They will handle crime reporting, assist tourists with information and services, tackle issues like drug trafficking, and facilitate foreign currency exchange and immigration matters.
