PRTC to refurbish 300 old buses with new fleet

The PRTC has prepared a detailed plan to refurbish as many as 300 buses in its fleet, which will now be given a new look. Around 30 percent of PRTC buses are in bad shape as these have run beyond their time. PATIALA: Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) is all set to take its fleet of overaged buses , which have completed 15 years, off the roads. At present, the PRTC has1075 buses out of which 1040 are plying on the road.Narang, said, "Meetings in this regard have already been held and we have chalked out a detailed plan to give a fresh look to 300 buses. He said that the PRTC will be raising a loan for refabricating old buses which will cost up to Rs 20 lakh each.

PATIALA: Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) is all set to take its fleet of overaged buses , which have completed 15 years, off the roads. The PRTC has prepared a detailed plan to refurbish as many as 300 buses in its fleet, which will now be given a new look. The buses will now be seen in blue- grey paint colour. Around 30 percent of PRTC buses are in bad shape as these have run beyond their time. The authorities are planning to refabricate the bodies of these buses by which they say that it will help them in attracting more passengers thus increasing its revenues.Out of 300 buses around 150 are owned by PRTC while another 150 are under kilometer scheme."The paper work has been completed and a budget of Rs 30 crore has been proposed for this project," said PRTC managing director, Manjit Singh Narang . He said that the PRTC will be raising a loan for refabricating old buses which will cost up to Rs 20 lakh each. At present, the PRTC has1075 buses out of which 1040 are plying on the road.Narang, said, "Meetings in this regard have already been held and we have chalked out a detailed plan to give a fresh look to 300 buses. Besides, we are also contemplating to increase the number of buses to 1200 in the current fiscal year."Meanwhile, it was learnt that the daily receipt of PRTC is Rs 1.06 crore at an average which only compensates the expenses being incurred by the corporation. "We have set a target to increase the daily revenues by Rs 1.25 crore, which can be achieved only by giving the PRTC buses a fresh look."The MD said that the corporation had already planned to increase the number of heating ventilation and air-condition (HVAC) buses from its present fleet of 100 to 150.
