Ferozepur: Five persons have been booked for allegedly attacking a police team in Waghey Wala village in Ferozepur district on Monday, where they had gone to arrest a man following court orders.In his complaint to the police, assistant sub-inspector Satnam Singh Billa, from Kapurthala district, stated that their team had gone to the house one Manjit Singh, a resident of Waghey Wala, with his arrest warrants issued by a court in Kapurthala in a criminal case.He alleged seeing the police team, Manjit, with the help of his family members, clashed with them. Satnam alleged that as one of the attackers carried a weapon the police party returned without arresting Manjit.ASI Pawan Kumar, who is the investigating officer (IO) in the matter, said a case under sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembbly), 379B (snatching and using force) of the IPC and 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act had been registered against five persons, including Manjit.
