Batting first, Rana hit a 48-ball 67 to propel St. Joseph’s to 181 in 25 overs. Bhavya Thakur contributed 31 runs to the total. For the bowling side, Tony Singh (2/23) and Praveen (2/26) claimed two wickets each. In reply, Anchal International School were all out for 174 runs in 24 overs. Nihar Gaur (3/10) and Ishan Gabba (3/24) were the pick of the bowlers for St. Joseph’s, while Praveen made 55 runs for Anchal School. — TNS Abhishek, Manvi clinch bronze Chandigarh: City lad Abhishek Verma has clinched a bronze medal in the below 55kg category at the All India Independence Cup Karate Championship held in New Delhi. Verma was competing in the U-21 age group. Sandeep Raj won a bronze medal in the below 45kg category in the U-17 age group, while Manvi picked a bronze in the girl’s below 55kg category. She was competing in the U-21 age group. — TNS Shuttlers Gurpreet-Kamia win Chandigarh: Gurpreet Kaur and Kamia Setia won women’s doubles title on the concluding day of the inter-branch staff badminton tournament organised by St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44. Priyanka Gosain and Aarti finished second, while Shama Parveen and Jaishree Verma claimed third position. In the mixed doubles event, Gurpreet Kaur and Bhupinder Gosain won the title. The duo was followed by Kamia Setia and Kumar Vasishth at second position. Priynaka Gosain and Tarun Gusain ended in third place. — TNSPanchkula: The Rolling Tigers Academy will host two-day Blue Bird Open Speed Skating Carnival from August 19 on the school premises. Around 400 skaters from the region will participate in various rink and road race events in U-4 to above-16 year age group.
