According to information, the incident took place near the gate of the Sadar police station when a transgender group from Patiala led by Simmi suddenly attacked the local group, which was going from shop to shop seeking alms in view of Diwali festival. Simmi had attacked Reshma on her head and face causing grievous injuries. After receiving information, other members of the local group immediately reached the spot. After receiving information, Investigation Officer ASI Manmohan Singh of Kotwali police station reached the Civil Hospital and recorded the statement of Reshma. Manmohan said they had receiving a medico-legal report and had started investigations in the case.
