more-in The passenger experience on the Chennai- Mysuru Shatabdi Express is all set to be drastically transformed. The Southern Railway will refurbish all the coaches of the train and to begin with, a revamped a chair car — SWARN — will be launched on Saturday. The coach has been modified keeping in mind the facilities available for air passengers. The interior of the coach has been covered with vinyl material, and LED lights, including reading lights, have been installed. Braille signage is in place to indicate coach numbers. A new toilet provisioned with a micro-burst fragrance mechanism has been installed, officials said. On the entertainment front, commuters can enjoy Wi-Fi facility and download and watch films. Pre-loaded entertainment Entertainment for 500 hours, including Hindi and regional films and content for children, has been pre-loaded. Commuters can also enjoy more leg space than they get in a flight, officials added. The coach, built by the Rail Coach Factory, Kapurtala, has been in use since 2008. It was refurbished at a cost of ?10 lakh. “Very soon, all the coaches will have these facilities,” an official said.
