Tiruvallur schoolboy falls from bus, dies

A 17-year-old schoolboy from Tiruvallur, who was travelling by holding the window sill of a government bus, died after he fell and came under the wheels of the vehicle on Friday. He used to travel to school daily in bus route T-42. ‘Did not heed advice’The police officer said that during investigation it was found that the driver had asked him to get inside the bus and not to travel dangerously.

He was a resident at Keezhnedungal near Podaturpet. He used to travel to school daily in bus route T-42. “On Friday morning too he travelled by the same bus and was hanging precariously from the window near the rear entrance. He slipped and fell under the wheels when the vehicle was taking a turn near Venkatapuram,” said a police officer attached to the Podaturpettai police station. He was rushed to a nearby government hospital and from there to the Tiruttani government hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. A case has been registered at the Podaturpettai police station and investigation is on. ‘Did not heed advice’ The police officer said that during investigation it was found that the driver had asked him to get inside the bus and not to travel dangerously. “But he did not listen to this advice. There have been complaints about students travelling by footboard regularly on the stretch,” he added.
