more-in After southern Tamil Nadu, it is now the turn of interior parts of north Tamil Nadu to get some rain. On Friday, a few areas in western parts of the city, including Poonamallee, received brief spell of rain. The weather system, which brought in considerable rainfall over south Tamil Nadu, weakened into low-pressure area and lies over Lakshadweep area and adjoining south-east Arabian sea. Officials of the Meteorological Department said westerly winds influenced by the low pressure area moving inland interacts with the easterlies from the Bay of Bengal. This wind convergence over the interior parts of the State will aid cloud development and bring in thundershowers for two days. Chennai too has chances of thundershowers till Monday. However, it would be more of a localised thunderstorm activity and not all areas in the city may get uniform rainfall. Chennai has not recorded significant rainfall so far this year. The Meteorological Department forecast that the sky will be cloudy with a possibility of rain or thundershowers. The maximum temperature may stay close to normal of 32 degree Celsius till Monday. Vellore, Tiruvallur and Puducherry will get light to moderate rainfall over the weekend. One or two places in south Tamil Nadu too may experience rainfall, said an official.
