It is one of the top priorities of the party,” Anbumani told reporters after hoisting the party flag at the office here to mark the party’s 30th anniversary. On alliance for the 2019 elections, he said, “We will have a different strategy for the Lok Sabha and assembly elections.

CHENNAI: The Pattali Makkal Katchi ( PMK ) will continue to strive hard to rescue Tamil Nadu from the clutches of Dravidian parties , said party leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Monday.“People are extending support to the party and we will rescue the state from Dravidian parties. It is one of the top priorities of the party,” Anbumani told reporters after hoisting the party flag at the office here to mark the party’s 30th anniversary. On alliance for the 2019 elections, he said, “We will have a different strategy for the Lok Sabha and assembly elections. We will have yet another strategy if there is a combined election. We will work on alliance three months ahead of the elections.”“People in the state are desperately waiting for an early election to dethrone the ruling AIADMK ,” he said.Coming down heavily on chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for intimidating the farmers to give land for the Chennai-Salem greenfield highway project, he said the farmers whom he had met during his visit to Kancheepuram, Salem and Tiruvannamalai districts were dead against the project. “But the government has been arresting people protesting against the project and quelling the voice of dissent. It is against democracy,” he said.Refuting chief minister’s statement that most people were supporting the road project, he said: “Does he have the guts to go and meet the people?”Anbumani criticised Rajinikanth for supporting the project. He said film actors did not know the ground reality and “it shows their understanding on people's issue.”He alleged that the government was denying permission to him to visit to Dharmapuri, where the proposed road passes several villages, to meet the people in his constituency.“Two of the MLAs (Pappireddipatti and Harur) are disqualified and there is no elected member in local bodies. I am the only people representative from the constituency. But they are denying permission to me to meet the people in my constituency. It is against the democracy,” he said.Instead of calling the highway project a development project, it could be termed as “Edappadi Project,” he said and added that he would submit a detailed report after meeting the people in Dharmapuri district. On the egg scam, he said it was not surprising. Anbumani said he had submitted 208 pages report on widespread corrupt practices in 24 departments in the state to governor Banwarilal Purohit and sought action. “We submitted the report with statics and the kind of corruption. The governor assured me that would will look into it and take action. But nothing happened till date despite sending him a reminder,” he said. The state did not have a favourable environment for industrial development and the investors were also not forthcoming to invest, he said, adding, “When we come to power, we will follow the Telangana model to promote industrial growth.”He criticised DMK’s protesting the governor’s review meetings and asked if there was no other major issue in the state. On the other hand, chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, who was a stooge to the central government, has no objection to these meetings, he added.
