TN: 42-yr-old held for killing wife with helmet

CHENNAI: A 42-year-old man on Saturday night attacked his wife with a helmet over a domestic dispute, leaving her dead.The accused was identified as Sudhakar, a daily wage worker, from Eguvarpalayam near Gummidipoondi in Tiruvallur. During one such arugument, in a fit of rage, he hit her multiple times with the helmet he was carrying. The couple did not have children.Police said Sudhakar frequently quarrelled with Vimala and often suspected her of having an affair. She sustained severe injuries on the head, police said.Sudhakar was drunk and did not realise what had happened, an investigating officer said.

At times, he would go to his wife's house in an inebriated condition to argue. Vimala lived a few streets away from his home. During one such arugument, in a fit of rage, he hit her multiple times with the helmet he was carrying. Vimala collapsed in a pool of blood.Hearing her cries, neighbours arrived at the spot. They nabbed Sudhakar, who was attempting to flee, and called for an ambulance.Vimala was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. She sustained severe injuries on the head, police said.Sudhakar was drunk and did not realise what had happened, an investigating officer said. The Tiruvallur police registered a murder case. Police remanded him under judicial custody.
