Chennai bldg collapse: Death toll rises to two

CHENNAI: The death toll in an under construction hospital building collapse in Chennai on Saturday rose to two on Monday. Rajan Chowdary, 19, of Bihar, who was among the 29 injured construction workers, died while undergoing treatment in Apollo Hospitals here.The under construction building near Perungudi collapsed when the workers were installing iron fixtures on it.Chowdary, who suffered grievous, was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Apollo Hospitals.Health officials said 12 of the injured people were admitted to Government Royapettah Hospital, 16 were admitted to Apollo Hospitals and another injured was admitted to Lakshmi Hospital in Perungudi.While removing the debris on Saturday night, a National Disaster Rescue Force team and fire and rescue services personnel recovered the body of construction worker Bablu Kumar, 19, of Bihar.Police registered a case against construction supervisors and engineers under different sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 304 (a) (death caused due to negligence).
