TN: 6 idols stolen from ancient Jain temple

He alerted the trustees of the temple and the Gingee police.The 1,200 years old Jain temple is maintained by the Bhagawan Sri 1008 Mallinadhar Jinalaya Trust.Two idols of the main deity Mallinadhar (each one-foot tall), a nine-inch-tall Jolamalini idol, idols of Dharanedhran and Padmavathy (each two-foot-tall) and a one-and-a-half-foot-tall Parsha Nadhar idol are the six antiques allegedly stolen from the temple, said R Gautham Sagar, one of the trustees.There were 34 antique idols in the temple, and six of them have been stolen.A police team led by Villupuram superintendent of police S Jayakumar rushed to the temple and conducted inquiries with the temple priest, watchman and villagers.Jayakumar told TOI, “We have formed three special teams to investigate the case.
