BJP workers assaulted Kathir when he raised his concern over the rising fuel prices to Tamilisai.Reacting to Tamilisai’s remark that he had been drunk, Kathir on Wednesday said, “Drinking is my personal problem. CHENNAI: Auto driver P Kathiresan (alias) Kathir, who was assaulted by BJP workers here on Sunday night, has expressed his displeasure over party state president Tamilisai Soundararajan’s statement that he was drunk when he asked her about the rising fuel prices. “I want the government to reduce fuel prices,” he said.Kathir’s sister Punkodi said though he had been drunk, he had asked a question affecting all sections of the society. “He didn’t speak anything wrong, but the BJP leader is diverting the issue saying he was drunk,” she said“My brother wants to end the issue since a common man like him can’t fight against politicians. He is also worried about the safety of his family, but politicians are sending a wrong message,” Punkodi said.

She need not to speak about it in public.”When reporters asked him who had assaulted him, he said he did not know who had hit him as it had been dark.A video of the incident showed that BJP men, including party local leader Kalidasan, pulling the auto driver by his hair, elbowing and shoving him away from the BJP state leader.
