more-in As part of its continuing efforts to implement a series of reforms and producer-friendly measures in the Tamil film industry, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) on Wednesday announced that it would organise a music show to raise money for its members. In connection with this, members of the council have reportedly signed a deal with music composer Ilaiyaraaja for a special concert in January in Chennai. The show will see the participation of leading stars from the industry. The TFPC has been involved in resolving a number of issues, including the tiff with FEFSI union members over wages and the stand-off with digital service providers over tariffs. The Council has been involved in a confrontation with Silambarasan and Vadivelu, who have been accused of non-cooperation with producers of Anbanavan Adangadhavan Asaradhavan and Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi. While TFPC members have reportedly decided not to work with Mr. Vadivelu after he allegedly refused to complete his pending work for Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi, produced by S Pictures, sources say Mr. Silambarasan will have to come to the negotiating table to resolve the issue with producer Michael S. Rayappan. In a press conference, Mr. Rayappan stated that Mr. Silambarasan did not co-operate with him to complete the film. “Silambarasan will have to compensate for the loss. We are still working on it,” said the TFPC source, adding, “There hasn’t been a ‘red card’ against Vadivelu, but it is an unsaid rule that an actor, irrespective of creative differences with makers, should complete his work. The actor cannot refuse to co-operate, especially after so much money has been spent.” After recent disagreements over how the release dates for movies are being fixed, members of the producer council are reportedly working on mutually agreeable terms to regulate movie releases.
