CHENNAI: Poor conditions of MTC buses not only expose those inside them to many risks but also those outside. On last Saturday, motorists moving adjacent to a MTC bus on DGS Dinakaran Salai had a near miss when the top hinges of the right door panel gave away, leaving the panel precariously jutting out. After a point, the left panel got stuck and passengers can be seen in the video jumping over faulty door. Instead they allowed the passengers to hop in and out from the bus through the damaged door. The bus crew did not notice this and continued to drive the vehicle for 100 metres.Video clips shot by one of the passengers show that the bus crew didn't try to fix it up by calling up MTC technicians. As the bus halted at the next stop, the driver stepped out from his seat and tried to fix it by tightening the screws.
