Binu was out on bail after police busted him after he threw a party for scores of gangsters and cut his birthday cake with a machete Binu was staying at the farmhouse with three others.Police busted Binu and arrested around 75 history-sheeters at gunpoint on February 6. Though Binu managed to escape the crackdown, he surrended on February 13 and was arrested. He was released on conditional bail on February 23. His video pleading for mercy to the police, saying he was not a ‘big’ rowdy , had gone viral. Police said, Binu was to sign at the Mangadu police station everyday as per the terms of his bail, but he failed to turn up. Police began searching for him.Inquiry revealed that soon after jumping bail, Binu went to Velankanni church and Tirupathi for a while to escape from the police. He took help from Jayaprakash, 23, whom he had befriended in Puzhal jail. The two, along with two others, were staying at a house in Sathyavedu and frequented a farmhouse in Pathirvedu. They had been extorting money from a few businessmen and were living off of it, police sources said. They handed him over to the Mangadu police.Pathirvedu police registered a robbery case against Binu for extortion. Police have registered fresh cases under five sections of the IPC against Binu and Jayaprakash. Binu was lodged in Puzhal prison and is likely to be detained under the Goondas Act.
