Chennai to host Korean floral art exhibition

Live ggotgozzi demonstrations by members of the Korean ggotgozzi Association will be held before the inauguration. CHENNAI: InKo Centre, in association with the Korea Ggotgozzi Association and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea, will present the fourth edition of Ggotgozzi or Korean floral art exhibition at The Gallery @ InKo Centre here from November 23 to 25.“We are conducting the event for the fourth time. The harmonious flow and beauty of line and space or YeoBack is an unique aspect of ggotgozzi and Korean flower art.This time, the exhibition will feature the works of eight flower associations from Korea. To achieve this sense of balance, space is left between flowers and branches resulting in delicacy, airiness and fragility.This delicacy and sparseness encourage reflection and peace, an integral aspect of Korean artistic expression. It will feature different artists, and as always the flowers that will be used are being flown down from Korea,” says Rathi Jafer, director, InKo Centre.Ggotgozzi emphasises simplicity and space by creating a harmony of lines.

The special ggotgozzi demonstration will be done by Kim Joong Ae, Chun Joo Hee, Park Da Young and Moon Myoung Suk on November 23, from 4pm to 6pm.“People are interested in watching the demos before they go to view the exhibition,” says Rathi. “We are also going to see if we can also conduct ggotgozzi classes in the future.”Nandhita Krishna, president, C P Ramaswami Aiyar Foundation and Hyung Tae Kim, Consul General of the Republic of Korea, will inaugurate the ggotgozzi demonstration and exhibition at 6.30pm on November 23, 2018.
