I need a whole day to visit all the coastal areas affected by cyclone. But a number of events like flyover inauguration in Salem, new building inauguration in Namakkal and dedicating new medical equipment were scheduled. So I will be visiting those areas on Tuesday,’’ he said. More ministers are being sent to the affected areas to supervise relief work, he said.He said 45 people have lost their lives due to the cyclone and more than 700 livestock were killed. A detailed report on crop damage has been commissioned, he said, adding that the report would be sent to the Centre."Bereaved families will get compensation of Rs 10 lakh each and those severely injured will get Rs one lakh each. Those with minor injuries will get Rs 25,000," he said.As many as 56,000 huts were completely damaged and and additional 30,000 odd houses partially damaged. Due compensation will be given to them also, he said.Reeling out statistics on cyclone damage, he said more than 2 lakh people have been evacuated and sheltered in 493 relief camps. This apart, 372 medical camps and 1014 mobile medical camps have been established to attend to the injured and sick."1.7 lakh trees were uprooted in the seven districts affected by cyclone. As many as 347 transformers, 39000 electric poles and 3559 kms of electric wires have been damaged disrupting power supply. A large force of electricity board staff have been pressed into service to set right the power supply apparatus," he said.
