4 of a family die in car-bus crash near Trichy

TRICHY: Four members of a family, including an eight-year-old girl, died when a car they were travelling in collided with a bus near Manikandam near Trichy on Monday morning.The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Rathina Pandian, 43, of Thiruthondanallur in Tuticorin district, his wife Mekthin Shobana, 40, daughter Sherin, 11, and mother Shanthi, 60. His son Shyam, 13, suffered injuries.The accident happened around 7.30am when a front tyre of the car burst. The car crossed the median, entered the other side of the National Highway 45B and collided with a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation ( TNSTC ) bus that was plying between Trichy and Ponnamaravathi.Mahi and Shanthi died on the spot. Ramesh, who was driving the car, lost control of the vehicle. Ramesh and Shyril were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were declared brought dead.Four passengers on board the bus sustained mild injuries in the accident.The Manikandam police were investigating.The bodies were sent to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital for postmortem.
