CHENNAI: Terming Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami 's visit to some cyclone-affected areas as a drama, DMK president M K Stalin on Tuesday said it will increase people’s anger on the government.In a statement, Stalin said more than eight districts had been affected by cyclone Gaja . “The chief minister didn’t want to visit the affected people and speak to them. He agreed to visit the affected areas only after questions were raised whether there was a chief minister in Tamil Nadu,” he said.Stalin said some ministers who had earlier gone to meet the affected people had to escape from those areas due to public anger. "A minister jumped a wall and took a motorcycle to escape from an area where people stated asking questions about relief. One minister says there is no damage due to the cyclone while another does not want the media to show the damage," the DMK chief said.He said the chief minister was afraid of visiting the affected areas. “That’s why he took a helicopter to visit some affected areas,” Stalin said.“After landing in Trichy from Chennai, the chief minister took a helicopter to Pudukkottai and visited a few areas. After landing there, he travelled only for one km by road. He distributed some relief to people, mostly those belonging to the ruling AIADMK," said Stalin.“A person who wanted to submit a petition was not allowed to meet the chief minister. He was arrested,” he added.
