One or two places may receive heavy rain and one or two places may receive very heavy rainfall. CHENNAI : Four days after Cyclone Gaja left a trail of destruction across several districts, another well-marked low pressure has approached the Tamil Nadu coast bringing more rain. “Many places in the state will get moderate rainfall. By Thursday, the intensity of rain will gradually decrease,” said S Balachandran, deputy director general, IMD. In the next two days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast, the low pressure area is expected to leave most parts of the state including Chennai with moderate to isolated heavy and very heavy rainfall The system is then expected to move further north, and weather experts said the next 48 hours may be crucial for Chennai and neighbouring districts, as it may be their only chance of receiving good rain for November.IMD’s regional weather inference has forecast that the low pressure, which now lies over southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining northeast Sri Lanka, could intensify into a depression during the next 24 hours.
