Pongal: MTC operating 250 feeder bus services

CHENNAI: Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC), Chennai, is operating 250 feeder services daily -- from January 11 to January 14 -- to accommodate the additional rush of passengers going to native places to celebrate Pongal . These bus services are available throughout the day on these days, according to an official release.As many as 43 buses are operated from Chennai Moffusil Bus Terminus ( CMBT ), Koyambedu, and 77 function from Poonamallee.Since most moffusil buses departing from CMBT skip Tambaram to avoid traffic congestion, 78 feeder services have been made available to and from Tambaram and MEPZ bus stand.Also, 25 buses are running from the newly inaugurated Madhavram Bus Terminus from where buses to Andhra Pradesh depart.A toll-free helpline (18004256151) has been set up for the public to file complaints or express their grievances pertaining to Pongal special buses.
