2 held for damaging MLA’s car in Puducherry

In the melee, the windscreen of the car was damaged.Hearing about the incident, the MLA reached the spot and staged a protest demanding that police arrest AINRC cadre involved in the attack.A police team led by SP (west) B Ranganathan rushed to the spot and held peace talks with the MLA and her supporters. PUDUCHERRY: Police on Thursday arrested two All India NR Congress members on charges of damaging the car of Congress legislator V Vizeaveny following a petty quarrel between a group of AINRC cadre and the supporters of the MLA during the Pongal celebrations on Wednesday.Police have also launched a hunt for two more AINRC members involved in the crime.The arrested men have been identified as Tamil Kudimagan and Tamilkavalan while the absconding men have been identified as Gunaseelan and Sundaravarnan.Police said a group of supporters of the Nettapakkam MLA undertook a procession in his decorated car as a part of the Pongal celebrations in their village, Manamedu, on the outskirts of Puducherry town. The SP assured strict action against the culprits following which the MLA and her supporters ended the agitation.Police booked four AINRC members under sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 506 (2) (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and section 3 (mischief causing damage to public property) of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
