TN: Cop murder case cracked, woman among 3 held

MADURAI: The Madurai district police have cracked the murder of a former police head constable in Virudhunagar district and arrested three people including a woman.M Thangaraj, 68, was found dead inside Alagarkovil temple hostel room on February 4 with a bruise on the forehead and grievous injuries on the private part. Nagajothi rushed to her mother's house to reassure on behalf of her mother to the house owner.However, Nagajothi and her husband decided to murder Thangaraj as he turned his eye on their 13-year-old daughter, said a police officer privy to the investigation. Nagajothi, who asked Thangaraj to visit Alagarkovil, murdered him with the help of the two.Although the police knew that it was a case of murder right from day one, a case under section 174 – (suspicious death) was registered to be on the safer side.

Her husband Kumar and his friend Vasanth were also arrested.Inquiries also revealed that Nagajothi had developed an extramarital relationship with Thangaraj who had rented his house to her mother.As she struggled to pay the rent, the mother was facing pressure to vacate the house. Nagajothi rushed to her mother's house to reassure on behalf of her mother to the house owner.However, Nagajothi and her husband decided to murder Thangaraj as he turned his eye on their 13-year-old daughter, said a police officer privy to the investigation. Nagajothi, who asked Thangaraj to visit Alagarkovil, murdered him with the help of the two.Although the police knew that it was a case of murder right from day one, a case under section 174 – (suspicious death) was registered to be on the safer side.
