CHENNAI: DMDK leader Premalatha Vijayakant on Saturday said the party has been approached by all big parties for alliance and party chief Vijayakant will take a call in ten days.Having returned from the US after a “successful” treatment for his ill-health in the wee hours, Vijayakant stayed put in Chennai Airport for ten hours triggering anxiety among supporters. However, Premalatha called it jet lag recovery and that leader took time to ready himself after breakfast. “He is fine, and treatment is successful,” she said. The actor was given a rousing reception at noon when he appeared, along with Premalatha in a battery car to get into his private vehicle with the help of aide.In his absence in town, Vijayakant has already constituted a committee to hold electoral talks. “None of the parties declared alliance. Therefore, captain (Vijayakant) too will make it known at an appropriate time. We have been approached by all parties, whoever you think is big,” Premalatha said, rejecting that it was the DMDK which was making a first move in sewing up alliance.DMDK forged a tie up with People’s Welfare Front, comprising VCK and Left parties, besides MDMK and TMC during 2016 polls, and faced a humiliating defeat. “That was assembly election and the upcoming general election should not be treated that way. He will announce in ten days who we align with, how many seats and which are the seats.In October, ahead of his US trip, Vijayakant appointed Premalatha as party treasurer, after being unanimously chosen by the partymen at a high-level meeting. Incidentally, Vijayakanth’s elder son, Vijay Prabhakaran triggered a controversy recently by stating that political parties were “falling on the feet” of DMDK to strike an alliance for LS polls.
