Sub-registrar offices start issuing video grab

CHENNAI: Sub-registrar offices across Tamil Nadu began the process of offering video grab of property registrations . The captured video grab would be provided in DVD format to the buyer and seller along with the original document. Also, the sub-registrar offices went cashless from Monday.Official sources said that CCTV cameras have been installed in all 575 sub-registrar offices to record the process of registration. The recordings would be kept in central server for one year, sources added.The 575 sub-registrar offices also came under the cover of complete cashless transaction. Sources said point of sale devices have been supplied to all sub-registrar offices, where people can use debit and credit cards for paying up to Rs 1,000.

It is another layer of protection as impersonation largely takes place by forging photo identity cards including voter ID and Aadhaar card. The recordings would be kept in central server for one year, sources added.The 575 sub-registrar offices also came under the cover of complete cashless transaction. Sources said point of sale devices have been supplied to all sub-registrar offices, where people can use debit and credit cards for paying up to Rs 1,000. Demand draft should be used for payment between Rs 1001 and Rs 5,000. Only e-payments are allowed for any amount above Rs 5,000.
