Man gets 3 life terms for murdering mom, sister

TUTICORIN: A 41-year-old man was sentenced to three life imprisonments by a Tuticorin court on Thursday for murdering his 80-year-old mother and sister over a property dispute.The accused, Antony Thangadurai, was the son of Jesu Micheal and Francisco Mary of Settivilai in Tuticorin district. Mary had six cents of land in Settivilai and Thangadurai, a coolie by profession, had demanded that she register three cents in his name. This angered him.On September 21, 2015 Thangadurai hacked his mother to death when she was sleeping. He attacked his sister and her daughter with a weapon after placing his mother’s body on the floor.

This angered him.On September 21, 2015 Thangadurai hacked his mother to death when she was sleeping. He then carried her body to his sister’s house in the neighbourhood. He attacked his sister and her daughter with a weapon after placing his mother’s body on the floor. Both were admitted to the government hospital, where Jansirani succumbed.The Thattarmadam police registered a case and arrested Thangadurai. The trial of the case was conducted in the first additional sessions court in Tuticorin.Judge Gowthaman who delivered the judgement sentenced Thangadurai to undergo three life imprisonments and another 10 years rigorous imprisonment for attempt to murder his niece, with a fine of 3,750 to be served concurrently.
