Chennai: Mobile phones, Rs 4.95 lakh cash seized

CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation seized 750 mobile phones , which were packed in three carton boxes, and Rs 4.95 lakh in cash in Egmore constituency on Wednesday.The mobile phones belonged to a man named Vivek. The team seized the money,The seized mobile phones and money would be returned to the men once they produce the documents. Since he did not have any documents for the purchase of the phones, the corporation’s static surveillance team seized them after the city police registered a complaint. The phones were kept in the sub-treasury, said a corporation official.On the Vepery High Road, the team found a man identified as Piyush Kumar carrying Rs 4.95 lakh in cash without any documents to prove the source of the money.
