TN to launch its 1st education TV channel soon

It includes 17 types of programmes highlighting achievements of government schools, regular classes by teachers on the new syllabus and NEET training.The workshop took place at the head office of the channel on the Anna Centenary Library premises in Kotturpuram . It is built at an estimated Rs 1crore. “The first programme to be broadcast at 5am is likely to be 'Kuralin Kural'. Experts will take one or two Thirukural couplets every day and explain the meaning in detail with stories,” said G Muniasamy, a district coordinator from Pudukottai.Following this, a programme highlighting important news and education-related developments of the day will run for half-an-hour. Next 30 minutes will have tips for students to stay mentally and physically fit. “The next one hour will highlight the achievements of government schools and students, and the efforts taken by the government to improve the state school education department,” Muniasamy added.Plays, songs and speeches will be broadcast throughout the day in order to improve students’ skill sets.A senior official from the school education department said programmes have been designed to cater to the needs of children across all age groups and plans are on to make some sessions interactive. “Students can call up teachers hosting TV shows, to clarify their doubts on syllabus or competitive exams like NEET," the official added.Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami in January announced 'Kalvi Tholaikaatchi', an exclusive education TV channel for school students, will be launched soon.This channel will be available on TN Arasu Cable TV network (channel No. 200).
