CHENNAI: The Madras high court on Friday ordered maintenance of status quo on the construction of a public health centre (PHC) by the Poonamallee municipality, allegedly by encroaching upon a 35,000sqft plot of land meant for developing a park inside a residential layout in Seneerkuppam.Justice K Ravichandrabaabu passed the interim order on a plea moved by Sakthi Gardens Owners Welfare Association, represented by its president S M Daniel.According to the petitioner, the 35,000sqft plot, earmarked for a park for public use, was being utilised for some construction by the government without authority.The association wanted the court to interfere and restrain the authorities from using the site for purposes other than constructing a park.
