This translates into six 750ml bottles of IMFL and 12 bottles of beer (650ml).However, Tasmac shops are refusing to adhere to the personal possession limit. A salesman at an outlet in Egmore said he would not be able to sell more than three bottles of IMFL and five beer bottles to a customer. "It is being done to ensure that political parties do not hoard liquor to be supplied on the eve of elections. We have received instructions to limit the number of bottles till the elections are over," he said. When contacted, a senior Tasmac official said shops could have decided not to sell in bulk as any sale of more than 30% of February's average sale in a day has to be reported to the Election Commission.
