Anna University UAV sets world record

After scrutinising the evidences and claims submitted, the FAI had recently recongised CASR as the bearer of the world record, the release added.Besides this, the same team won three different prizes at the recently concluded Drone Olympics event organised by the defence ministry. CHENNAI: The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale ( FAI ), which governs air sports across the world, has declared that Anna University holds the world record for hovering a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle ( UAV ) for the longest duration.This record pertains to multirotor UAV in the 5 to 25 kg category and it is a first of its kind with no previous record history, according to an official release.The attempt was made by a UAV developed by the Centre for Aerospace Research (CASR) at Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) functioning under Anna University.FAI and Aero Club of India (ACI) representatives and other experts were present when the team attempted the record in July 2018.The UAV achieved a duration of six hours, seven minutes and 45 seconds.
