Man sets himself ablaze after his vehicle gets seized by the cops

"In an unfortunate incident, Mugilan set himself on fire in Ambur on July 12. He is admitted in CMC Vellore/ Efforts taken to provide best medical treatment,” said Thirupattur SP Vijayakumar.

A man from Ambur, Tamil Nadu took a life taking drastic step as a sign of protest after cops seized his two wheelers.

Mungilan, a resident of Anna Nagar in Ambur set himself on fire  as a sign of protest after cops seized his two-wheeler when he had gone out during the weekend lockdown. As soon as police seized his vehicle, Mugilan took out petrol from his motorbike and set himself ablaze.

Police and nearby people managed to put out the flame but not before Mugilan suffered severe burns. He was rushed to the hospital.

Senior police officers said the matter is currently under investigation.

"In an unfortunate incident, Mugilan set himself on fire in Ambur on July 12. He is admitted in CMC Vellore/ Efforts taken to provide best medical treatment,” said Thirupattur SP Vijayakumar.

"An FIR been registered and DSP-DCB nominated as investigating officer. Five policemen/Homeguards have been withdrawn from Ambur for a fair investigation,” he added.
