As of Monday, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu is 46,912. Till date, 3,06,354 males, 2,02,128 females and 29 transgenders have tested positive for the virus in the state.
Tamil Nadu recorded 5752 positive cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the state tally to 5,08,511. Among these, Chennai reported 991 positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 1,49,583.
The state recorded 53 deaths on Monday, putting the state toll at 8434. 50 of them had succumbed due to comorbidities.

Besides Chennai, 364 cases were reported in Chengalpattu, 167 in Kancheepuram, 294 in Thiruvallur, 16 in Ariyalur, 498 in Coimbatore, 296 in Cuddalore, 87 in Dharmapuri, 76 in Dindigul, 133 in Erode, 139 in Kallakurichi, 134 in Kanyakumari, 57 in Karur, 78 in Krishnagiri, 95 in Madurai, 120 in Nagapattinam, 118 in Namakkal, 94 in Nilgiris, 10 in Perambalur, 95 in Pudukottai, 25 in Ramanathapuram, 99 in Ranipet, 297 in Salem, 39 in Sivagangai, 80 in Tenkasi, 125 in Thanjavur, 55 in Theni, 82 in Thirupathur, 222 in Thiruvannamalai, 143 in Thiruvarur, 73 in Thoothukudi, 72 in Tirunelveli, 192 in Tiruppur, 74 in Trichy, 139 in Vellore, 125 in Villupuram and 42 in Virudhunagar districts.
According to a bulletin released by the Health and Family Welfare Department of Tamil Nadu, 59,68,209 samples from the state have been sent for testing till date, with 80,123 samples having been sent yesterday.
The state discharged 5799 patients following treatment yesterday, putting the total number of recoveries at 4,53,165.
