“If Surya’s statement is construed as a mistake, we will also repeat the same statement and we would also make the same mistake.”- K Ramakrishnan
Suriya’s recent statement on NEET has now become an intensified matter people are talking about. In the past, famous South Indian actor and film star Suriya had made a statement on the NEET exam. Suriya received some harsh criticism for the same from some BJP leaders. Recently, Dravidian Outfit leaders have indulged themselves in this matter and come to save the actor and defend his statement too.
The general secretary of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, K Ramakrishnan said that if Suriya’s statement mentioning courts, which he made keeping in mind students’ welfare and upliftment, was a mistake, the outfit ‘would also do the same mistake’.
Ramakrishnan in an interview with a news media organization said, “If Suriya’s statement is construed as a mistake, we will also repeat the same statement and we would also make the same mistake.”
According to Ramakrishnan Suriya’s statement was based on humanitarian grounds and all he meant was that conducting NEET at a time when COVID-19 was spreading fast is completely wrong. Ramakrishnan said, “How is this a crime? How is this contempt of court?”
The actor’s statement, made by him on Sunday, said that courts that were dispensing justice through video conferencing due to pandemic scare ask students to appear for exams. Just after this statement was made by Suriya, Madras High Court Judge Justice S M Subramaniam wrote to the Chief Justice of the HC, seeking contempt proceeding against the actor.
