NIA will set up three new divisions in Chennai, Ranchi and Imphal

Following the request by Tejasvi Surya Union Home Minister Amit Shah has confirmed that he will direct officials to set up a Permanent Station House of the NIA in Bengaluru soon. 

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday sanctioned three additional branches of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the capital city’s of Manipur, Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand i.e., Imphal, Chennai and Ranchi respectively.

The BJP MP Tejasvi Surya had requested earlier on Sunday, to set up a division of the national probe agency in Bengaluru. Surya said the capital city has become an epicentre of terror activities and he has requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to set up a permanent division of the NIA in the city. His demand was later seconded by the Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa.

Yediyurappa on Monday said he has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to set up a separate division of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in the city. "I have been requesting PM Modi for setting up NIA here too. We are seeing increase in cases," Yediyurappa said.
