Chennai reports highest no. of murder due to ‘illicit relationships' with TN 2nd highest murders of senior citizens

The state of Tamil Nadu also reported the second highest number of murder of senior citizens with 117 such cases, preceded by Uttar Pradesh with a total of 209 cases.

According to a recent report published by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), highest number of murders was committed in Chennai due to ‘illicit relationships` as compared to 19 metropolitan cities in India with more than 2 million population.

28 murders were committed due to “Illicit relationship” whereas 90 murders in the city were committed in cases related to disputes, making the city second highest in this category, first being the national capital – Delhi with 125 such cases.

The state of Tamil Nadu also reported the second highest number of murder of senior citizens with 117 such cases, preceded by Uttar Pradesh with a total of 209 cases.

The capital city – Chennai, reported 60 murders due to family dispute, 34 due to Petty Quarrel and 52 due to personal enmity. The report is based on the data collected in 2019.
