Covid-19 update: Tamil Nadu reported 3,536 new cases on Monday

As many as 85,130 specimens were examined and cumulatively, 90,31,696 samples have undergone RT-PCR scrutiny till date in the state``s 192 COVID testing labs.

Tamil Nadu recorded 3536 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the state’s overall infection  tally to 6,90,936.

Among these, Chennai reported 885 positive cases, bringing the city`s total to 1,90,949.

The state also recorded 49 virus related deaths, putting the state death toll at 10,691. Forty eight of them had succumbed due to comorbidities.

Tamil Nadu discharged 4515 patients following treatment Monday, putting the total number of recoveries at 6,42,152.

As of Monday, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu is 38,093. Till date, 4,17,216 males, 2,73,688 females and 32 transgenders have tested positive for the virus in the state.

Chennai reported 885 positive cases, bringing the city`s total to 1,90,949. Coimbatore recorded 290 cases, Chengelpet 241, Salem 192, and Tiruvallur 172 and the remainder of new cases was scattered across the state, a bulletin said.
