Covid-19 update: Tamil Nadu reported 2608 new cases on Friday

According to a bulletin released by the Health and Family Welfare Department of Tamil Nadu, 98,85,443 samples from the state have been sent for testing till date, with 77,356 samples having been sent yesterday.

Tamil Nadu reported 2,608 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, taking the state’s overall infection tally to 7,22,011.

Tamil Nadu also recorded 38 virus related deaths on Friday, putting the state toll at 11,091. Thirty six of them had succumbed due to comorbidities. The state discharged 3924 patients following treatment, putting the total number of recoveries at 6,87,388.

Capital city, Chennai, reported 723 new positive cases, bringing the city’s total to 1,99,173.

As of Friday, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu is 23,532. Till date, 4,35,783 males, 2,86,196 females and 32 transgenders have tested positive for the virus in the state.
