Need for increased Covid testing in Chennai News Today

Chennai: Decreasing number of corornavirus cases is surely a relief. According to data given by the Greater Chennai Corporation this morning the tally of total positive cases was 4567 which is at two per cent. Since the lockdown Chennai has recorded 210601 cases of Covid-19 of which 202242 have recovered over the months. Currently Anna Nagar has 382 positive cases and 294 cases are reported in Kodambakkam. Places such as Manali have the least number of cases at 49 and Shollinganallur has 47 positive cases.

Chennai: Decreasing number of corornavirus cases is surely a relief. But some sections allege that the lower number of tests done on a daily basis could be the reason behind less number of infections. Before Deepavali the city was carrying out an average of 11000 tests a day but in the past few days the tests have averaged between 7000 to 9000. Only a higher number of tests would result in detecting the spread of the virus as post Deepavali a spike was anticipated experts feel. According to data given by the Greater Chennai Corporation this morning the tally of total positive cases was 4567 which is at two per cent. Since the lockdown Chennai has recorded 210601 cases of Covid-19 of which 202242 have recovered over the months. The recovery rate in the city is at 96 per cent. Nearly 3792 persons have died due to the viral infection. As per records 479 persons died in Teynampet 428 casualties were reported in Anna Nagar and 420 deaths were recorded in Kodambakkam. On 19 November 9009 tests were carried out by the City Corporations health department. Currently Anna Nagar has 382 positive cases and 294 cases are reported in Kodambakkam. Places such as Manali have the least number of cases at 49 and Shollinganallur has 47 positive cases. Nearly 62.48 per cent of those affected with Covid are male and 37.52 per cent are female. The viral infection has most affected people in the age group of 50-59 with 20.90 per cent belonging to this age group.
