Water enters Chidambaram temple after 40 years News Today

Chennai: After nearly four decades rain water entered Chidambaram Sri Natarajar temple. Priests who reached the temple this morning to perform daily pujas had to wade through knee deep water. Rain water was seen in important parts of the temple and devotees sought immediate action from the officials concerned. Kollidam in Nagapattinam which was battered by heavy rains recorded 36 cm in the last 24 hours while Chidambaram received 34 cm. Parangipettai in Cuddalore too recorded extremely heavy rain of 26 cm along with south Tamilnadu and delta districts.

Rain water was seen in important parts of the temple and devotees sought immediate action from the officials concerned. Met office said almost all parts of the State received moderate to heavy rain in view of the cyclonic storm Burevi. Cuddalore district where Chidambaram is located received extremely heavy rain of 27 cm till 8.30 am this morning- Cuddalore (9) Adhiramapattinam (8) and Thuvakkudi Tiruchi district (6 cm each). Kollidam in Nagapattinam which was battered by heavy rains recorded 36 cm in the last 24 hours while Chidambaram received 34 cm. Parangipettai in Cuddalore too recorded extremely heavy rain of 26 cm along with south Tamilnadu and delta districts.
