EC gets tough in TN 3 flying squads appointed for each constituency News Today

Chennai: Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo today said that three flying squad teams have been appointed for every constituency in Tamilnadu. Speaking to mediapersons here he said one flying squad with videographer has been deputed to each constituency. Satyabrata Sahoo on Monday held a meeting with the registered parties in the State to discuss the election model code of conduct. The Election Commission of India had recently announced the poll schedule for the Tamilnadu Assembly election on 26 February. The Election Model Code of Conduct came into effect from that day.

Chennai: Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo today said that three flying squad teams have been appointed for every constituency in Tamilnadu. Speaking to mediapersons here he said one flying squad with videographer has been deputed to each constituency. “We have requested to deploy 330 company paramilitary forces. Banners that were kept in 53713 government properties have been removed so far. Ten cases have been filed in the issue. Similarly banners that were kept in 123 private locations have also been removed and 46 cases have been filed” he said. He further said that statues of political leaders should not be covered. “Vehicle inspection will be intensified from today. Till yesterday cash was seized from only one person” he said. Satyabrata further said that the meeting of the election officials will be held tomorrow. He said that booth slips will be issued five days prior to the election date. “People can vote with any of the 13 documents that are already notified by the Election Commission” he added. It may be noted that Returning Officers for the upcoming Assembly elections have been appointed for the 16 constituencies in Chennai on Monday. The details of the elections observers have also been released. Satyabrata Sahoo on Monday held a meeting with the registered parties in the State to discuss the election model code of conduct. The Election Commission of India had recently announced the poll schedule for the Tamilnadu Assembly election on 26 February. The Election Model Code of Conduct came into effect from that day. Voting to elect a total of 234 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will be done in a single phase on 6 April the ECI said.
